Wednesday June 8th 2011

2020Media is proud to have been one of the very first companies to sign up for World IPv6 Day 2011. Please complete our survey.

On 8 June, 2011, Google, Facebook, Yahoo!, Akamai and Limelight Networks will be amongst some of the major organisations that will offer their content over IPv6 for a 24-hour "test flight". The goal of the Test Flight Day is to motivate organizations across the industry - Internet service providers, hardware makers, operating system vendors and web companies - to prepare their services for IPv6 to ensure a successful transition as IPv4 addresses run out.

2020Media and IPv6

2020Media is a small UK based company which means we can roll out new services like IPv6 quick and effectively. We maintain low overheads, which means we offer lower prices for a great quality service.
2020Media has been working with IPv6 for several years now. Our core network has been IPv6 enabled for over a year now and we hold a 4 star rating as a RIPE LIR.
We sponsor and host the IPv6 Matrix project which aims to record the gradual take up of IPv6 across the globe.

IPv6 Services available from 2020Media now and in the near future include web hosting and email, server co-location, network transit, dedicated server rental and ADSL broadband. Our expertise is also available as consultants.

What Actions Do I Need to Take?

IPv6 is all about the internet. If you have any devices that connect to the internet either at home or at work, then IPv6 is something you need to think about. Most of the time, you will be dependent on others to enable IPv6 connectivity for you, but they won't do it unless you ask.

Network providers (LIRs) in the RIPE European, Middle Eastern and part of Asia area were surveyed a year ago, and again in April 2011 by RIPE. The figures show that the number of ISPs and networks with IPv6 has risen from 27% a year ago to 41% at the end of April 2011. Alarmingly 59% still have no IPv6 address space. 2020Media is four star rated by RIPE, the top rating.
